James E. Sampson Memorial School

James E. Sampson Memorial SDA School, is the oldest private school in St. Lucie County. It was incorporated in 1943. Its’ beginnings provide a profound base on which we are building to ensure that our students are well prepared to face the enormous challenges of the 21st century.  James E. Sampson was 8 years old when he was taken on a school field trip with his fellow students. His school did not have an adequate play area in which to play and so he and his classmates were taken to an area off of Orange Ave. in Ft. Pierce to play. The school was then located at the Delaware Seventh Day Adventist Church on Delaware. Of course the grounds were unprotected and without surrounding fences.  During a ball game, James ran out to retrieve a ball and was suddenly and tragically run over a passing automobile.  James’ family and friend’s, in their great sorrow, however, with great vision and selflessness organized a community effort to make sure that what happened to James would not happen again.  This effort resulted in the purchase of almost nine acres that eventually became the beautiful campus of our school…the James E. Sampson Memorial School.

We are nationally accredited as well as state accredited and generally score higher than the national norm on the nationally administered ITBS test. Our goal is to become a school of no less than 150 students and we are at present pre-enrolling for the 2008/2009 school year.

We have a very family friendly environment that is very pleasant and supportive of the positive and strong academic learning experiences that occur at our school on a daily basis. We educate for eternity, opening our doors to all young people of all religious persuasions.

We have full scholarships available which are provided by Step Up for Students and are administered by Children’s First the funding organization. Scholarships are strictly income based and are taken from the free lunch scale in public schools.
